Today in Bathroom Mondays: three renovations, one with beautiful tiles, a second one on a tight budget and a third one with some advice from Internet; and some bathroom design furniture.
A very old bathroom gets a complete refurbishment with money well spent on the right places. Very nice blue tiles with geometric 3-D effect are used on two of the walls only as they were quite expensive. Also the wardrobes with very nice cherry-veneer doors are made out of very cheap Ikea boxes and shelves, helping to balance the overall renovation budget.
A very nice bathtub and double basins with smart and energy efficient lighting complete the room. What we like about this renovation is how they mixed the good quality expensive items with other cheaper solutions to help balance the budget and save money. It’s a smart renovation from the money point of view.
Our second renovation today took place in a 1910 cottage. The owners, both of them architects, did most of the job in order to save money. The results are incredible. Simple and cheap products from Ikea manage to give the bathroom quite a luxurious feeling and it doesn’t show up how little money the owners spent in the full renovation.
They did use professional builders and contractors but they managed to do a significant amount of the work themselves helping balance good work and money saving. A very smart idea when you are thinking on a bathroom renovation but don’t have a big budget for it.
This one is a bit different. It’s a bathroom renovation but in this case before attempting the renovation the couple, expecting a child, decided to ask for some advice from the Apartment Therapy community about their renovation and they showed some photographs with the ideas they already had for their bathroom. The questions were about whether it would be a good a idea to tile the walls or paint them, lighting, accessories (one of the person answering actually suggested to think about children’s toiletries and toys storage in the room), etc.
The second article is all about the finished result. Some minor changes to the floor tiles, a compromise between tiled walls and painted ones and the whole project was done.
We thought that normally you would ask friends or family in this case, but unfortunately if they haven’t done something like this recently they might not be much of a help, and this could be a fantastic way of getting some good advice before attempting a project like this.
And finally some stylish bathroom furniture. White and perfectly matched with the sanitaryware. Because sometimes we like to dream a little bit.
