Today in Bathroom Mondays: two renovations (one small bathroom and small renovation project) and tips for airy bathrooms and children friendly ones.
A very small bathroom in great need of a facelift gets a full renovation on a very tight budget. Very well planned as the space was limited. The bathtub gets replaced by a big shower and of course there needs to be a compromise with other elements inside: they opted for a space saving basin from Ikea. The toilet was substituted by a high rating flushing one reducing by more than 8 times the amount of water spent flushing. White tiled mosaic around the shower area and painted walls around the rest of the room complete the project.
As in other occasions the owners saved money by doing some of the work and hiring specialists for the more difficult and technical tasks. Shopping around for fixtures and furniture in places like Ikea helped as well. It’s a great project and a beautiful small bathroom.
This is a very small renovation: a neutral palette was used on walls and the vanity unit making the bathroom airier and bigger (the previous colours were making the bathroom much smaller than it actually was), new lighting fixtures to change the look and a very ingenious and beautiful mirror wall with hand-held mirrors make this bathroom look completely different.
The overall budget was very small, just paint and some accessories. The hand-held mirrors needed some research but they make the bathroom unique. The designer used some inherited hand-held mirrors but the rest were bought in second-hand shops for very little money. This bathroom is proof of how a little bit of imagination goes a long way.
