The IKEA’s Expedit Series is a line of furniture composed by mostly bookcases and other storage units. The furniture, as most IKEA’s furniture is very basic and has very simple lines. But its simplicity actually makes it one of the favourite pieces of furniture people hacking IKEA’s products use.

In this article you can see a very useful hack that will provide you a wardrobe/storage unit in your bedroom. They use two Expedit units (this big one and this smaller one) positioning the small one over the big one. The big one had some selves removed to create hanging space for bigger items. The small one was used for less needed items. Cover everything and creating the effect of doors, a railing was installed and three fabric panels were hanged there.

Overall it’s a very ingenious solution that looks terrific and you don’t need lots of skills for it. The most difficult part was placing the small Expedit over the big due to the weight.

This is another project making use of the Expedit bookshelf, in this case a 4×4 (the big one in the previous post). In this case the bookcase has been placed on the floor and a plywood cover affixed to top with Velcro. Over the top you can place your mattress and prepare your bed as normal.

The idea in this case is to use the empty spaces underneath the mattress to store items that are not used frequently. Whenever you need them you can lift the mattress and take them out, placing down the mattress again.

Easy and cheap way of getting an underneath storage bed base. Jump to the article to read more and get all the instructions.
