DIY Fridays

Today in DIY Fridays: a castle bunk bed, a bathroom cabinet unit, a hi-fi rack and a media entertainment unit all of them on a budget.

Some kids dream with castles, dragons, knights and terrible battles to save the princess, or maybe they are the princess. And some parents are only too happy to oblige and help their children make their dreams come true at least up to a certain point. This family had two little princesses in need of a castle so their mother put her hands into the task and got a castle themed room worth of any princess in the world.

The materials are IKEA’s: a Kura bunk bed, Flyn Lill panel curtains, mattresses, bed base and some additional materials for customizing as well as tools. And as you can see in the photo above the result looks fantastic. A very professional job.

Okey this article we recognized that it might not be something anyone can do. But the result is so good and the instructions are simple enough that with a bit of skill or help anyone can do it.

This is a bathroom unit that looks custom made. The house owner is a bathroom designer and he did it himself  but he used IKEA materials: a sink base without doors (GODMORGON series), some cabinet drawers, a mirror and a Lack shelf on the opposite wall. And even though the result looks fantastic and cust0m made the reality is that it’s a DIY project with IKEA products.

This is a custom made Hi-Fi unit. The owner was in need of a a media storage unit and found a simple and cheap solution (compared to bought units). The materials are simply Lack side tables, a dowels cut to length, metal road to go through the dowels and stabilize it, and a plank on the back with the same purpose.

As in the previous article, this is a project that looks more complicated than it really is. Good planning and following the instructions will help you through the whole and will make it very easy to finish it.

And our final project for today is again a media storage project using Lack Tables. In this case it’s an entertainment unit that has been customized with the help of Lack Table tops and Lack shelves. The tops were attached to the wall surrounding the basic media cabinet where the TV stays. In between they placed the shelves and as you can see in the photo above the result looks a more expensive result than it actually is.
