Today in House Tours Tuesdays we continue visiting our favourite entries from the Apartment Therapy Small Cool Contest 2012.
Our first house tour of today is a 936 square feet (86.96 square metres) apartment in a converted industrial building. It’s a bigger apartment than the ones we bring from this contest but it’s beautiful and the decoration looks fantastic.
The apartment was pretty much an empty shell with only the bathroom as a separated room. The rest of it it’s an open plan living space with only curtains to separate some of the spaces, such in the case of the bedroom area from the living room. The owner loves having plants around and thanks to the big windows he can enjoy them. The abundance of them around the space make it look almost like a little jungle. And they become a very important part in the overall look.

Our next house tour is 794 square feet (73.76 square metres) 2 storey house. It’s almost exactly same as most houses in Ireland and the reason we bring it here. It’s not a very big house but in the space it manages to have a living/dining room, kitchen and toilet on the ground floor. It also has a full bathroom, a main bedroom and an office in what it would have been the second bedroom, upstairs. All the rooms feel spacious and the layout of all the house is simply impeccable. Nothing obstructs the flow around the house. Lots of light and neutrals give this house a very relaxing and natural look.

Our next house tour is a converted industrial building of 990 square feet (91.97 square metres). Industrial buildings have some features that many people enjoy: high ceilings, big windows and exposed brick walls. In this apartment all those features look fantastic and enhance the modern look of the space. Beautiful wood flooring along with very beautiful wood furniture make the whole space look wonderful. And thanks to the open floor layout everything feels very big, spacious and airy.

The first thing someone thinks when considering the decor of a small space is using light colours. But this apartment proves that dark colours, if used correctly, will not make small spaces feel smaller than they are. They will actually make your small space look modern and spacious.
This apartment is only 595 square feet (55.28 square metres) and in that space it manages to have a kitchen, laundry room, big living/dining room, and two walk-in closets. One leading to the bathroom and the other to the double bedroom. Plenty of storage space in such a small space.
Big windows, bringing in lots light, are the reason very dark colours, in both the living room and kitchen, work so well. The rest of the apartment is a great example of how good planning will allow you to fit almost anything in the smallest space.

And we finish today’s house tours with a very tiny apartment of 306 square feet (28.43 square metres). In that small space everything needed in house has been fitted: kitchenette, dining/living/bedroom area, full size bathroom and storage space. A small partition wall to separate the kitchenette from the main living area has increased the storage space and it doesn’t interrupt the flow, in fact it enhances the overall look.
