It’s inevitable that once you finish with your kitchen renovation sooner or later wear and tear are going to start appearing there. As careful as you can be it’s a fact of life that things will start getting old as soon as they are used. So why not go for a distressed look in your kitchen? That’s what this article is all about: choosing a distressed look in your kitchen.
One of the advantages of this look is that it’s part of it to look a bit old and used, so your kitchen and cabinets will not look much older today or in a year’s time. It’s also a very relaxed and cozy look. Old stuff tends to feel welcoming like it’s been there forever and you really don’t have to worry too much. It can look fantastic when done properly and can make any kitchen very charming and welcoming. Ideal for people that spend a lot of time in there cooking.

Our next article is a renovation. A 60’s styled kitchen with lots of panelling and feeling extremely outdated got a full renovation. But the owners wanted to keep some of the old style in a more modern way so they took the original decor as the inspiration for the new room.
Originally there was lots of panelling diving the space between a cooking area and a dining one. They removed that partition increasing the size of the room and the amount of light. Wood panelling can make rooms feel small and it’s a good idea to go for it in big rooms. To avoid the overwhelming feeling caused by all the panelling in the cabinets as well, this time they went for white ones leaving only the frames to be a dark wood colour and helping to lighten the space.
Overall the space feels much bigger and spacious and certainly airier. Jump to the article to see more photos or go to the original article to read more about the renovation.
