Today in Room Decor Wednesdays: a nautical nursery, a magical room for two little girls, 2 rooms for a brother and sister, and black in children’s rooms.
The first two rooms we bring today are a bit green. And yes they make us green with envy because they gorgeous and show very imaginative design on them.
In this case the green and egg blue in the room decor follow the theme of the room: nautical. The walls have been painted in an egg blue shade and other elements are the ones in charge of introducing green in the room: the whale on the wall, the bed linen, the cushions and the curtains. There are of course other colours that continue the nautical theme such as the white painted furniture and in other accessories. And finally orange to create a little bit of contrast.
It’s a terrific room an ideal for a little boy. The bright colours and the beautiful elements make it a great place to grow up. Jump to the article to read more and see all the photos.
And yes this room also makes us turn green with envy because it’s gorgeous.
In this case the walls are painted in a really beautiful shade of green and the other main colour in the room decor is white. The result is very peaceful and relaxing as you can see. There are small splashes of other colours in the small toys and accessories scattered around the place. But the main colours in here are green on the walls and white accessories and painted furniture.
As in the previous case the parents wanted the room to follow a theme, in this case a safari theme. And that’s the reason for some of the toys (orange giraffe, the green elephant, etc) but they added a couple of twists that make it very special and magical: a starry light ceiling made with fiber optics and white flowers on the walls above the cots.
The result is stunning and if you go through their shopping list you will notice that it was done on the cheap using IKEA furniture. It’s incredible what a bit of imagination and good planning can get. Jump to the article to read more and see all the photos.
Our next link is not one bedroom but two: one for a boy and another for a girl. They are brother and sister and even though the rooms have both been decorated differently to suit their occupants you immediately notice they have the same style.
The basics for both rooms are: white walls and painted furniture and dark wood flooring. The bed linen in both cases is also white and the main ceiling lamp is the same in both rooms, only the lamp shade colour is different. And that’s where the similarities stop. The last common element is a big pattern print in one of the walls that marks the tone for the rest of the decoration in the rooms and creates the difference. The boy’s room has a big American flag hanging and accessories are introduced in the room following both the colour and the flag theme. The girl’s room has a big poppy canvas hanging on the wall and accessories follow both the colours and the theme in it.
It’s a very smart way of creating different rooms that suit different personalities and at the same time unifying the decoration style in your house.

And finally black in children’s rooms. Black might be considered a more adult colour but as you can see it can look great in a boy’s room. Mixed with a bright colour and creating a striking pattern on the wall it looks extremely modern and not at all old.
In the article they offer suggestions for using black in a children’s room and that also includes painting the walls or at least part of them in blackboard black paint. That way you will avoid having your little rugrats going through the house and leaving their artistic marks in other less convenient places.
